Heartache is
The smell of freshly picked tomatoes
Still on the vine
And the taste of mint leaves grinding between my teeth
While the morning forgets the dew
It placed there in the night
And heartache is so quiet that
The rustle of the earthworm becomes
Louder than the cry of a bluebird
Still apologetic
Heartache feels like canvas sheets
Laid out on a bed of raindrops and straw
And lastly, I think
Heartache looks like nothing
Like a funhouse mirror in a
Room cloaked in black

All it was, was all I had
I thought myself the strongest man
This honeycomb, I find my home
And my love is so alive

I am a skeleton
I’ve been so out of my element
I’m no pessimist
This shit is evident
It’s my development, obviously
I’m not yet relevant, honest I see
I’m leaving you hesitant, coming from me
I thought that meant a bit
I’m a perfectionist and recently that’s been my main impediment
I wish that we had known each other both when we were ten

In the fall, I grew my craft
And all my want a love repast
To fill and gloat, I know I won’t
For all the time is on my side
